Why I Moved Abroad
In 2019, I made the decision to move to the United Kingdom in search of structured career growth, functional systems, and global exposure—things that were difficult to access consistently in Nigeria despite effort and competence. The move wasn’t driven by fantasy; it was driven by the need for an environment where process, merit, and opportunity actually aligned.
Early Settlement Reality
Settlement was humbling. There was no instant upgrade, no shortcuts, and no special treatment. I took entry-level roles while deliberately studying the UK business environment—how regulations work, how professionalism is measured, and how trust is built. It was a reset, and I embraced it fully.
Settlement Journey
Starting over meant rebuilding from the ground up. Credentials didn’t automatically translate, and past experience didn’t guarantee future opportunity. I had to observe, learn, and adapt quickly—understanding cultural nuances, workplace expectations, and the unspoken rules that govern progress in a new country.
Challenges Faced
Lack of an existing local network
Accent bias and cultural adjustment
Rebuilding credibility from zero
How I Overcame the Challenges
I focused on what I could control: skill relevance, proper documentation, consistency, and relationship-building. I stopped trying to explain my background and let results do the talking. Over time, competence created trust, and trust created opportunity.
Career & Achievements How I Got Started
My foundation in supply chain operations in Nigeria gave me practical grounding. In the UK, I doubled down—upskilling, earning certifications, and aligning my experience with international standards. That gradual process opened doors into consulting and trade facilitation.
What I’m Most Proud Of
Building AMAX Trade & Logistics into a trusted bridge between UK-based buyers and Nigerian suppliers—while maintaining strict compliance, transparency, and quality. No shortcuts. No compromised standards.
